I have just been looking at what a little Sole Charge School in the backblocks of Taihape can do. Have a look. I am interested in your comments

I thought the clock was amazing as well.

I had a session with Mark at Awahou this afternoon. They are going to do a video clip telling about how they are reporting to parents and the work that they have done to be able to follow studetn achievment and link it to the expected achievmenet levels. I will alert the rest of the team to your latest addition Heather. You might be able to help us post a voicethread that includes some samples from across our schools. Bunnythorpe and Taonui Schools are meeting to do a cross school moderation on 4th November. Cheers Doug

Hi All.
I've been working with the U123 cluster in PN recently and they would love to collaborate with you guys over moderation and - well anything really.

Here's their voicethread with samples of children's writing from across the cluster. They'd love to learn about moderation so you could really help by using the progressions and standards to make comments on their VT.
Thanks in advance.
Heather

Learning, Teaching and Assessment

An example of what a Scottish School has done in developing their Curriculum plan - are we trying to do similar things?

I have just received the following publication via email from Learning and Teaching Scotland - you might find some interesting reading in it - especially the articles on Assessment, Numeracy ad Global Citizenship.

Connected - Moving Education Forward (Summer 2010)

Hi Team

We need to get some discussion going through this wiki. We are all busy but this wiki is a chance for us to share ideas and support each other. Let me know if you want me to come and help you in your school to get some things up for sharing. We have a planned Workshop afternoon on Tuesday 19th October at Awahou School. The release and travel will be covered from the Cluster funds so try to be there. Let's plan for a 1.30pm start.

Cheers Doug

I have made the changes suggested to the permissions of our wiki so that others should now be able to view our work. Let me know if it works. Cheers

Thanks for the notes Doug, and for attending the MoE monitoring visit meeting last friday. They seemed to be very happy with the way the clusters are functioning now that we've got over the initial inertia.
A huge thanks also to the whole cluster for the work you've put in to date. Our meeting last week uncovered a vast array of material that shows you've been working hard in this area. I'm really pleased you are willing to share this with other clusters now.
As agreed, I have put in some 'how to' screenshots. The first one is showing you how to make someone an organiser which they need to be this if you want them to be able to do the higher level changes. For example, if you are happy to allow other clusters to see your wikis, you need to be an organiser to open the wiki up. The second two show you how to make your own wikis visible so other clusters can see all the hard work you've been doing.
Thanks, Heather

1. To make someone an organiser so they can make higher level changes to the wiki

2. Making your 'private' wiki 'protected' so others who are not members can see it but not write on it

August

Meeting 26th August 2010We met to look at how to get information from individual schools about their school based curriculum onto the cluster wiki.
We videoed Colin sharing how they his school has developed a structure based on the five NAGs over the past several years. He has provided links to this material on his wiki and encourages others to view and comment on this. Challenging questions are good!
The video can be viewed on the Journey towards developing out school based curriculum page.
Raewyn from Mount Biggs has been using Google Docs for her board correspondence. She shares this and the board and they make comments and add material as they see fit. The new chairman and Raewyn set this up and the members are happy to use this platform.

Today we kicked off this project. Heather Bell helped with initiating the direction that we are headed in. If we keep to Numeracy as the main focus area the task should be more achievable. The contributions made during this project will also be used in our Milestone 6 reporting because we are using ICT to improve student achievement and teacher pedegogy. Task in the project will require yiu to use digital technology to provide evidence of learning. We also intend using Skype for an audio conference as well as face to face discussions

We should also identify how Bernie might be able to provide assistance in developing skills in using Voice Thread, developing video clips that can be added to the wiki.

The first task is to identify student learning needs.

  1. Identify a target group of children (no more than 4),
  2. Identify specific needs for this group.
  3. Provide evidence for your findings.

Use the questions listed on the Student Learning Needs page to shape your reponses.

Teachers can do this within their classroom and then you as principal can summarise the findings. When we meet in Week 6 Term 3 you are encouraged to include as many of your staff as possible
